Matalan launched a new website onto the SHIFT platform in May 2017 to great success, which has been a key factor in fueling 77% online revenue growth for the retailer since its launch.
Organic traffic has risen by 29% and the overall conversion rate climbed by 23%, dispelling typical fears retailers encounter when faced with a major website re-platform and site migration.
SHIFT has enabled Matalan to be more agile as a business by taking them from quarterly code deployments to having multiple deployments on a daily basis.

In an independent study by Manchester-based agency Ampersand, which studied response times for major UK retailers across the Black Friday trading period, Matalan came out top.
With an average response time of 157ms, SHIFT’s technology enabled the Liverpool-based retailer to outperform the likes of Amazon, Apple and Argos. This culminated in Matalan recording its best-ever individual online trading day and overall week.

Historically, new content pages needed to be briefed as static templates, which would be built by front-end development teams, making the process inefficient and inflexible, even though agility is often needed. SHIFT’s unique component-based CMS has revolutionised Matalan’s approach to generating new web content. Content teams now take direct control of the process, creating new pages and layouts with ease by reordering components as they see fit, and instantly previewing any proposed changes as they go. As a result, monthly output of new pages has increased by 50%.
